Martha D. Preston, 67, ascended into heaven to join her beloved husband, and savior Jesus Christ on Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at her residence in Orrville, following a short illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 8, at noon at the Gresser Funeral Home, 415 N. Elm St., Orrville. Pastor Mark Davenport will be officiating. Burial will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 7, from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests that friends may make donations to Hospice & Palliative Care of Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster, 44691, or to the American Cancer Society, Wayne County Branch, 721 E. Milltown Road, Wooster 44691, in her memory.

She was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Lewis County, W. Va., the daughter of Wilmer and Dessie (Stutler) Frazier. She married Gene Preston on Dec. 8, 1957, in Mount Clare, W.Va. He died in 1991.

Martha was a graduate of Lost Creek High School in West Virginia in 1956.

Following her marriage to Gene Preston, they moved to Orrville.

She worked at Union Protestant Hospital in Clarksburg, W.Va., before her marriage and then worked at Wayne General Hospital in Orrville and Dunlap Hospital until her retirement 1999.

She was a member of West Hill Baptist Church of Wooster. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by sons, Timothy (Kim) Preston and Michael (Ginger) Preston, both of Orrville; daughters, Martha Jean Cox of Orrville and Kathy (Henry) Jones of Canton; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Earl Frazier of Mount Clare, W.Va., Robert (Sue) Frazier and Michael Frazier of Clarksburg, and sisters, Mary Louise Britton of Summit Park, W.Va., and Rhonda Frazier of Orrville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by brothers, Edward, John, Thomas, Paul and Charles Frazier and a sister, Katherine Frazier.
