Dean Russell, 84, of Boise, formerly of Twin Falls, died Monday, February 29, 2016 at a local hospital. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.

Earl Dean Russell, 84, of Boise formerly of Twin Falls passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016 at a Boise hospital. Dean was born in Blue Mound, Kansas to Theodore and Jessie Russell on January 17, 1932. He grew up hunting and fishing with his family.

Dean was called to military service in January 1952and served in the Army. He was stationed in Salzberg, Austria, Germany and Italy until December 1954. Dean had worked in the potato fields, bucked hay and threshed grain for a short time until he got a job with the Union Pacific railroad in February 1955. In March of 1955 he married Erna Rose Hite and they made their home in Eden, Idaho. Dean and Erna had two sons, Sherman “Butch” and Andrew. In 1994 Dean retired from the railroad.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Erna; sons: Sherman “Butch” and his wife, Kym and Andrew and his wife, Cat; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Beth and lots of nieces and nephews.
Dean was a great man, husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa with a big heart. He will be missed greatly. An open house to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 12th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Rosenau Funeral Home, 2826 Addison Avenue East in Twin Falls. Remembrances for the family may be left online at www.AccentFuneral.com. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Dean’s name to the Idaho Youth Ranch, 5465 W. Irving St. Boise, ID 83706 or the Disable American Veterans, 444 W. Fort St. Boise, ID 83702.

Dean’s family would like to thank the staff at Bridgeview in Twin Falls, BrightStar, Encompass Hospice and Southwest Idaho Advanced Care Hospital all of Boise for the care given to Dean and his family.
