Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Greater Powerhouse Church of God in Christ 428 North Woodland Avenue, Michigan City, with Elder Dwayne Hurt officiating. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the time of service.
Nathan Josiah Phelps was born December 11, 2007, in La Porte, Indiana, to Marcus Phelps and Dreanna (Hurt) Curry.
He was a member of New Covenant Outreach Ministries under the leadership of his grandfather Elder Dwayne Hurt. Nathan was a junior deacon at the church. Nathan was in the second grade at St. John Luthern school. He loved basketball, baseball, football, video games and reading books.
