Daryl Hayes, age 77, a resident of Dallas formerly of Irving, died Saturday, February 27, 2016 at home. Born October 24, 1938 in Lincoln, Illinois, the son of John C. Hayes and Florence Butler Hayes, he grew up in San Diego, California, graduated from Mission Bay High School there and attended the University of San Diego and San Diego City College. Daryl was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1956 to 1960. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dallas, and attended Calvary Church in Irving for the last 9 years. He was self-employed in steel fabrication for 15 years. Daryl was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife, Janie Kimmel whom he married May 25, 1959 in Roswell, New Mexico. He is survived by his son, Gene Hayes and wife Elisa Rivera-Hayes of Katy; daughters, Anne Breland and husband Timothy of Cleburne, Nancy Coughran and husband Jim of Jacksboro, and Mary Hensel and husband Mark of Dallas; grandchildren, Clint Hensel, Katy Hensel, Jonathan Hayes and Gabrielle Hayes. A visitation for the Irving and Calvary Church Community will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. An additional visitation for the close relatives and Dallas area and St. Thomas of Aquinas friends will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be said at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3 at Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless. A Memorial Mass will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Coppell.
