Joyce Marie Hunt, a woman of faith and love, received her heavenly inheritance on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, after a 14-month battle with signet ring cell carcinoma. She was at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City when God called her home.

Joyce was born May 21, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, to Leroy and Johnnie Williams. She was born exactly four years after her sister, Cheryl.

She graduated from El Reno High School in 1968. Joyce married Arlen Hunt on Jan. 24, 1969, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and they raised three sons.

Joyce had a very strong work ethic and held numerous jobs in her lifetime. She worked at the FCI from 1984 to 1999. In 1999 she began her nursing career. She received her R.N. from OCCC, her BS in nursing from Kaplan University and her nurse practitioner certification from Frontier Nursing University.

She had been employed with the Canadian County Health Department, State Health Department, Indian Health Service, Nova Center consultant and State Department of Corrections Health Service. She loved helping others. She was a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners

Joyce is survived by her parents, Leroy and Johnnie Williams of El Reno; husband of 47 years, Arlen Hunt of El Reno; sons, Darren and wife, Ann of El Reno, Scott and wife, Rindie of Lake Charles, La., and Kyle and wife, Laura of El Reno; six grandchildren, Kinzada, Jentri, Makylah, Kolton, Faithe and Haylee; eight step-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

She was a hands-on grandma and dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities.

Joyce was preceded in death by her sister, Cheryl Lee Miller in 2003.

Joyce was a member of Faith Family Church where she loved working with the children and youth ministry. She also enjoyed helping lead the music at church.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 4 at Wesley Methodist Church in El Reno with Pastor Paul Roach officiating.

Memorials may be made in memory of Joyce Hunt to the Stephenson Cancer Center, 800 N.E. 10th Street, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73104.
