Freda "Flo" Pauley, 93, of Chesapeake, formerly of Ansted, with her children by her side, earned her promotion and went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 27, 2016 at the home of her daughter, Dona Lacy.
She was born Oct. 31, 1922 in Ramsey. Flo was the daughter of Don and Vessie Walkup. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Murien Paul, and her second husband, Del Pauley; brother, Don Wallace Walkup; sisters, Emogene Kight and Dorraine Nash; granddaughter, Glenda Clackler; great-granddaughter, Krista Harrell; and son-in-law, Mitchell Lacy.
She was a former member of Druid Hills Methodist Church in Ocala, Fla., and a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Ansted.
She attended Gwinn Grade School, Ansted High School and Southern Beauty Academy, Huntington.
She was the co-owner of Ansted Highlander Restaurant and owner/operator of Flo's Beauty Shop. She also worked in an ammunition defense plant in Elkton, Md., during World War II.
Flo was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was caring and always put her family first.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Murien Paul (Shelley) of Marion, Ohio, Wallace Paul (Karen) of Mount Lookout, Larry Paul (Susan) of Hico, Patti Kincaid (Bill) of Scott Depot, Dona Lacy of Chesapeake and Mona Shuff (John) of Edmond; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Wanda Hurley and Kaye Mann; and stepchildren, Gary and Judy Pauley of Anthony, Fla., Larry and Sarah Pauley of Anthony, Fla., Steve and Linda Pauley of Ocala, Fla., Brenda Pauley Parrish of Ocala, Fla., and Toni and Herbie Kinsey of Ocala, Fla.
Special thanks to caregivers, Dupy Rocker, Fran Snodgrass, Brenda Leadman and Jessica Carver, who loved Flo and took wonderful care of her.
The family would like to thank special neighbor Becky Spradling, Dr. T.V. Jagannath and staff, Charleston Hospice Care and Jo Bailey and Edie Kirk.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted, with the Rev. Michael Lacy and Father Roy Gene Crist officiating. Entombment will follow at Chapel of Rest Mausoleum in Restlawn Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
