James Byron "Jim" Criswell, Sr., 58 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Monday, July 8, 1957, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Archie Criswell and the late Merry Ann Jones Criswell.

Mr. Criswell was a former police officer with the Newbern Police Department, Dyersburg Police Department and Dyer County Sheriff's Department and was a graduate of the the Tennessee Law Academy.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 with Rev. Charles Halliburton, Mrs. Michelle Yarbrough and Mr. Billy Gene Brooks officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 PM until service time at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra "Sandy" Gray Criswell of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two daughters, Michelle Yarbrough (Trevor) of Newbern, Tennessee and Shelly Lewis of Union City, Tennessee; one sister, Ann Brooks of Dyersburg, Tennessee and four grandchildren, Sean, Peyton, Alex and Olivia.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Byron Criswell and one daughter, Shalea Geron Criswell.

The family ask that any memorials be made to the charity of donor's choice.
