Audrey Waive Franklin, 92, formerly of North Liberty, Indiana, passed away, Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Walkerton, Indiana.
Audrey was born in Gary, Indiana, to Evelene (Ols) and Dewey Thomas on June 19, 1923. She graduated from North Liberty High School in The Class of 1941. Audrey married Roscoe Franklin, of Bremen, on September 2, 1950. Audrey started her career at Indiana & Michigan Electric Company of South Bend where she worked for 9 years culminating with the position of Executive Secretary. She later worked as Secretary at North Liberty Elementary School for 6 years and North Liberty Church of Christ until retirement. While working outside the home she also served as bookkeeper for Roscoe’s Standard Oil business, in North Liberty. She was a member of North Liberty Church of Christ and Order of Eastern Star #290.
Audrey is survived by her children, Pamela Elkins of North Liberty, Indiana, Bruce (Jeanne) Franklin of Fishers, Indiana, Deborah Blacketer of Fort Wayne, Indiana, David (Tyann) Franklin of Melbourne, Florida, Beverly (Nicholas) Lung of North Liberty, and Patrick (Barbara) Franklin of Winter Haven, Florida; 13 grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; husband Roscoe Franklin and two brothers, Emery Thomas and Dewey “Jr” Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the North Liberty Church of Christ, 65225 State Road 23, North Liberty, IN. Pastor Tim Stewart will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Palmer Funeral Home, North Liberty, is assisting the family with arrangements.
