Coach Virgil “Bud” Willis, 85, of Sparks, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Legacy Village at Park Regency in Moultrie, Ga.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, Ga. with Elder Buck Wood officiating, assisted by Mr. Bobby Cobb and Mr. Bob Montgomery. Interment will follow in Old TyTy Cemetery in Tift County.

Casketbearers will be Bobby Cobb, Bob Montgomery, Ray Goff, David Durham, Darrell Strange, Johnny Dickerson, John White, Richard Bass and Mike White.

Honorary casketbeares will be the Deacons of Old TyTy Primitive Baptist Church, former coaches and football players.

Born January 27, 1931 in Tifton, Ga. he was the son of the late Edgar Right Willis and Lou Ethel Smith Willis. He was a member of Old TyTy Primitive Baptist Church. Coach Willis graduated from Tifton High School and from The University of Alabama where he was a member of The Crimson Tide Football Team. Coach Willis retired from Tift County Board of Education and was former Head Coach of Moultrie High School Packers and Cook County High School Hornets.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Inita Martin Willis; three brothers, Lennon Willis, Alvalee Willis and Julian Willis.

Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Willis and Myra Lee Willis Fussell and William all from Sparks, Ga.; four grandchildren, Rebecca Fussell, Jessica Fussell, Willis Fussell and Taylor Sumner; a sister Louise Willis Patrick of Tifton, Ga.; a brother, Carl Willis and Margaret of Tifton, Ga.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie, GA.

Memorial contributions may be made to a school of your choice, Touchdown Clubs or Alabama A Club.
