Nathaniel Dickinson was the son of Richard and Ann "Nancy" (Quarles) Dickinson. He was born and lived at the family manor house, Mercer Hall, all his life.

He married Martha (Gray) c. 1809 in Virginia, possibly Patrick County.

Nathaniel and Martha had issue:

1.Mary b.c. 1809
2.Twin Unamed 6 Jan 1811
3.Hugh Mercer 6 Jan 1811

Nathaniel had slaves:
1810 - 4 slaves
1820 - 11 slaves
1830 - 10 slaves

Nathaniel and his wife were buried on the grounds of Mercer Hall in unmarked graves supposedly under what became the garden.
