LEROY BALL DIES THIS MORNING IN STATE HOSPITAL
At Richmond, Where He Was Taken After Mental Breakdown
LONG RESIDENT HERE
Body Moved To Local Mortuary To Await Funeral Plans
Leroy Ball, aged 73, and a farmer in this community the greater part of his life, died thismorning at 12:20 in Easthaven hospital at Richmond. The body was removed to the Davis & Stricler mortuary here to be prepared for burial and to await the completion of plans for the funeral.
Mr. Ball, who had lived at 116 1/2 North Harrison street recently, and who had been employed at various jobs since retiring from active farming, had been in failing health for some time. About four weeks ago he was found seriously ill on the lawn at a home in the north part of the city, and it was believed that he had suffered a heart attack.
He was taken to Mercy hospital at Elwood for treatment and remained there for about a week before he was taken to the hospital at Richmond, when it was found that he was suffering from a violent mental derangement. His condition there had steadily grown worse until his death this morning.
He was a native of Oxford, O., having been born there on March 8, 1870. The only known relatives who had been located today included a brother, Henry Ball, of Greenfield, and a sister, Miss May Ball, at Oxford. His wife died a number of years ago. They lived on a number of farms in this community during her lifetime, having lived for a long time on the Harlan farm, two miles north of the city.
