She was born Dec. 26, 1926, at Jamestown, N.D., the daughter of Calvin and Hazel Roach Steele. In 1933, the family moved to Puyallup, Wash., where Dorothy was reared and educated, graduating from Sumner High School.
Dorothy married C. Gordon Walters at Puyallup on Nov. 24, 1945. Following their marriage, they moved to Jerome, where they farmed and ranched for many years. She also worked at Idaho Frozen Foods for 22 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane (Mark) Simerly-Griffith of Jerome; two sons, Ed Walters of Jerome and Calvin (Francine) Walters of Redwood City, Calif.; two grandchildren, Tracy Simerly of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mackensie Griffith of Jerome. Also surviving are three sisters, Emma Mae Martinson, Betty Waterhouse and Veletta "Sis" Johnson, all of Puyallup.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993; an infant son in 1952; her parents; and two brothers, Alfred and Bud.
