Professional Football Player. A native of Hamilton, Texas, Box played as a tight end and a quaterback for the Detroit Lions from 1949 to 1954. He was a two time pro bowler in 1950 and 1952 and held or shared six receiving records for the Detroit Lions by the time he retired from football in 1954. The 6'4, and 220lbs, Box was also a star football player at the West Texas A&M College. Following his retirement, he went onto a career in construction, became a well-established oil-man, and a thoroughbred horsebreeder.
