Jewell retired from FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) after 31 years of service. She served in Washington, D.C., Charlotte, NC, Cincinnati, OH, and Atlanta, GA. She was a volunteer at Takoma Hospital for 22 years. During her work years she was also a wedding photographer. Several crafts Jewell was competent in pursuing were: Woodworking, cake decorating, floral arrangements, bow making, cross stitch, ceramics, and picture framing.
Jewell was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, member of the Crusader Sunday School Class, Order of Eastern Star-50 years, Greeneville Iris Club, Honorary member of the Noon Rotary Club, and a Paul Harris Fellow. She was a member of the “Sweet Adeline Chorus” when she lived in Nashville, TN.
Jewell was known for her photography and beautiful Iris flowers which she willingly shared with anyone who showed an interest.
Her family stated she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her.
Jewell was preceded in death by: daughter: Cathy Hughes LaLonde of Selah, WA; parents: Mr. John H. and Ida Murray; brothers: Clarence and Kenneth Murray of Greeneville, TN, Joseph Vance Murray and wife Mary Edith Murray of Ellijay, GA; brother-in-law: Eugene Bill Ward; father and mother-in-law: John R. and Mattie Burns Hughes of Greeneville.
The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 524 Tusculum Blvd., Greeneville, TN. Funeral service will be held at 7 pm. Minister Stuart Albee will officiate. A committal service will be held at 10:30 am Friday, March 4, 2016 in Greenelawn Memory Gardens Bell Tower Mausoleum. Family and friends are asked to meet at 9:30 am at the funeral home to travel in procession to the cemetery.
