Frances K. Murray, age 91 of Chattanooga quietly passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Parkwest Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Her final years were spent at Morning Point Assisted living in Clinton, Tennessee. She was born May 6, 1924 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the late Arthur and Anna Kittle. She was retired from the Hamilton County School System. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than fifty years and a longtime member of East Ridge Baptist Church. Her husband, Verald Murray, three sisters, Lucille (Paul) Bates, Stella Kittle, and Ruth (Carl) Brackett and nephew, Don Bates preceded her in death. Survivors include her sons, Verald H. (Jessie) Murray, Jr. of Pace, Florida; daughter, Vicki (Gib) Gibson of Clinton, Tennessee; Mark (Vivienne) Murray of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Bill Tuber, Sandy Thurston, and Brian Murray all of Pace, Florida; Scott Gibson of Clinton, TN; Tara Gibson Marth and Shannon Gibson Wright both of Knoxville, Tennessee; Lindsey Murray Allman of Kennesaw, Georgia; Lorrena Murray of San Diego, California; Jamie Murray, Danielle Hawkins, and Lila Miller all of Chattanooga; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 3, 2016 from 12-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the East Chapel with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell officiating. Interment will be held at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or your favorite charity. Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 South Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37412.
