Catherine Mary Curtis (nee Riordan), a proud mother of 8 and grandmother of 13 died on February 25, 2016. She was 82 years old. Beautiful and charming, Catherine had enchanted her late husband Warren Curtis into a lifelong marriage of love and partnership. His untimely loss in 2010 had shaken her, but it could not dim her Irish sense of humor or her strong sense of spirituality. She remained strong after his death and continued to inspire her children and grandchildren as the matriarch of the family.

Catherine was truly selfless. As a young mother she did not eat until she had fed all her children. She did not sleep until she was sure her children had all been safely put to bed. She was uniquely able to nurture each of her 8 children individually, so as to make each of them feel loved and admired. Throughout her life she quietly and without complaint went without, to ensure all her children always had plenty. Her generous spirit placed her husband and her family above all and they in turn loved and admired her. She was the “glue” that kept the family together in good times and bad. The many visitors to her home witnessed first-hand Catherine’s pride in the family she had raised, as evidenced by the numerous photographs of her loving children, her grandchildren and her extended family that she used to surround her on the walls of her home. These photographs, however, were not mere decorations; instead they were a testament to a life that had been well lived and always full of love.

She is survived by her children Wilhelmina (Robert), Warren Kevin (Shelia), Mark (Diana), Charles (Julia), Christine (Sal), Carol (Eric) Sisterhen, Thomas (Rahat) and Lynn (Michael) Vinegra and by her grandchildren; Zachary, Catherine, Zoe, Abby, Devin, Emily, Jacob, William, Sarah, Aedan, Hannah, Grace and Alicia and by her brothers, Edward (Barbara) Riordan and James (Joan) Riordan. Catherine took great pride in her children and grandchildren and in their many accomplishments.
