Cheryl Lynn Jenkins, 52, of Nampa, died Thursday, December 24, 2015. Services are under the direction and care of Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, Nampa.

Cheryl was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on November 2, 1963 to Wayne and Shirley Huss. She came into this world 10 weeks early at a mere 2 pounds, the youngest of four children.
Cheryl embodied pure joy and enthusiasm; she found that making friends came naturally. After high school Cheryl attended South Dakota State until 1983 then the family moved to Redmond, Washington where she attended Western Washington University. In 1985, shortly after moving to Redmond, Cheryl met David and quickly fell in love. In 1986 they were married and moved to Boise, Idaho. There she received her bachelor’s in biology at Boise State University in 1989. Cheryl and David were blessed with their first child Erin in 1987, and blessed again with Timothy in 1991.
In 1991 Cheryl started her 25 year career with the City of Nampa as a laboratory technician. From there Cheryl built an exemplary stormwater program where her techniques are currently used by surrounding states. She built the stormwater department from a “department of one” to a thriving department that has received national recognition, including a magazine publication, for their educational outreach program and interpretive signage. Cheryl was a strong and respected influence among her peers and in her community.
Cheryl was an accomplished runner who ran 3 marathons and 4 half marathons. While undergoing chemotherapy she ran one half marathon, four 5Ks and participated in numerous local events. She was a talented and dedicated runner who never let a challenge get in her way.
Most of all Cheryl found an immense amount of joy in her family. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandma and friend. Cheryl had a passion for the outdoors and spending time with her family hunting, fishing, camping and cooking. She was a loving wife of 29 years to David, in whom she found her best friend, and together they endured an exceptional journey through life. She had no greater pride in life than being a mom and a grandma. She found great joy and pleasure in baking sessions with her granddaughter, Payton and reading to her grandson, Zachary.
Cheryl was survived by her mother, Shirley Huss; husband, Dave; daughter, Erin Chesnut (Shane Chesnut); son, Timothy; and brothers, David Huss (Chelly Huss), Brad Huss (Deborah Huss) and Stephen Huss. Cheryl was a sister to Brother in Laws; Dusty, Dale, and Bryce Jenkins, and sister in law Dawna Jenkins. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Huss.
Throughout her life Cheryl maintained a stubborn, yet enthusiastic and simple, demeanor. She taught us all to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, as they bring the most joy. Her constant nurturing and unconditional love has touched many lives and her legacy will carry on.
She will be greatly missed.
