Dorothy is the daughter of Eli and Sadie Hartsell.

Siblings: George, Norma

Spouse: Francis Sweeney

Their Children: James, John, Thomas, Michael

Dorothy and Francis married when she was in her early 30's and he in his mid 40's. Because she was 15 years younger than he, she still had time to give birth to their 4 sons. When she married Francis, she converted to his Roman Catholic faith, raised their sons Catholic, including sending them to grade school at Bishop Kelley Memorial School, Lapeer. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lapeer.

The family made their home in Lapeer, and Dorothy was employed as a cashier at the Lapeer "Kroger" store for many years.

Granddaughter, Amanda Sweeney, gives this account of Dorothy's death:

"My grandmother was going to pick up my Aunt Pam, Michael's wife, for work. While stopped at a traffic light, she had a heart attack, ran the light, and was hit by a car."

Baird-Newton Funeral Home, Lapeer, handled funeral arrangements.

"WE LOVED HER IN LIFE; LET US NOT FORGET HER IN DEATH."
