Elmer was the oldest of 10 children born to Henry and Boyd Gay. He was born in Waurika Oklahoma and after the birth of J W Gay a couple of years later the family moved to Ducor CA where they lived when Leslie and Janet and Joyce were born. In 1941 the family moved to Corcoran CA. Where David was born at home and Bruce, Mary, and Vernon were born in a clinic. Elmer enlisted in the USA Army about that time and served 6 years. The family moved again to a outside of Bakersfield CA and Wanda became the last and youngest of the 10. While Elmer was in the Army he met and married Eunice Michele (Mickey) Brunsell.
Most of his life after leaving the Army Elmer drove a truck.
Elmer and Mickey divorced after the birth of Boyde Gay.
He is preceded in death by his son Michael Gene Gay, his parents Henry and Boyd Gay, his brothers J W Gay, David Allan Gay, and his sisters Janet Marie Dresser and Mary Ann Eversole.
Elmer is survived by his wife Rose; His daughters & spouses; Ramona and Randy Bolen, Laura and Robert Quinones, Lueanna and John Falk, Jeanette and Mike Lang, and son Boyde Gay.
He is also survived by his brothers; Bruce Gay, Vernon Gay, and Leslie Gay and 2 sisters, Joyce Lombardi and Wanda Sheppard.
He has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who surrounded him with love and affection.
