Born in Dickson County, Ray was the son of the late Arthur Junior "Doc" and Vesta Lee Hamilton Baker. Ray was married to the former Ruby Nell Parker Baker, who predeceased him in 2012. He was also preceded by a daughter, Judy Duke, a son, Bobby Baker, and by infant twin sons, Donald and Ronald Baker. Ray was a U. S. Army veteran of WW II and was of the Baptist faith. He was formerly a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Survivors include six daughters, Edna Kirby (Harlon), Pam Corlew (Larry), Mary Harris (John) and Tammy Eleazer (Jeff), all of Dickson, Wanda Heggie (Eugene Harris), Lyles, and Loretta Stanford (Ethon), Franklin; three sons, Glenn Baker and Ricky Baker (Lisa), both of McEwen, and Gary Baker, Dickson; 25 grandchildren; and a host of great- and great-great grandchildren.
Interment in the Baker Cemetery.
