James H. Bristow, age 80, a resident of De Queen, Arkansas, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016, at his home. He was born on March 13, 1935, to Herbert and Edna Bristow in Fulton, Arkansas.

In February of 1966, James and his family moved from Hot Springs, Arkansas to De Queen where he was manager of Rephan’s Department store. Later, he was the owner of James Western store and worked for Lane’s in Grannis, Arkansas.

He was past president of De Queen Chamber of Commerce and the De Queen Lions Club, a member of the First United Methodist Church, and an Army Veteran.

He and his family moved to Texarkana in 2000 returning to De Queen in August of 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, one son and daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, five nieces, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law and several cousins.

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Bristow will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2016, in the Chapel Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mark Cloninger officiating, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, February 27, at the funeral home.
