JIM MITCHELL

Jimmie Dale Mitchell was born June 6, 1933 to Waldo and Marie (Boyer) Mitchell in Allerton, Iowa and passed away December 8, 2015 at the age of 82 years. He was the oldest of five children—Terry, Sharon (McCaull), Weston, and Wendell. He was raised on a farm south of Allerton, attended White Country School, and graduated from Allerton High School in 1951. He served two years in the United States Army, based near Nuremberg, Germany. Afterward, Jim worked several years for Michigan‐Wisconsin Pipeline near Lineville. In 1966, he joined Bob
Everman and Ray Greenlee at the Sinclair Service Station on the north side of the Corydon Square, where he became a part‐owner and worked for 35 years until his retirement in 2001.

He was married to Mary Brown at the Methodist Parsonage in Corydon on July 24, 1956. He and Mary had two children: a son, Jeffrey, and daughter, Laura. Jim was an active member of the Allerton Volunteer Fire Department nearly all his adult life. Jim also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father‐ and mother‐in‐law, Floyd and Lauretta Brown, a brother, Terry, and his wife, Marylou (Bills) Mitchell, a brother‐in‐law, Bill McCaull, and
a sister‐in‐law Julie (Wolf) Mitchell. Jim leaves behind to mourn his passing his wife, Mary (Allerton); son, Jeff (San Francisco, CA); daughter, Laura Reyburn and husband, Dean (Dana Point, CA); his sister, Sharon McCaull (Altoona); brothers, Weston (Urbandale) and Wendell and wife, Terri (Jefferson City, MO); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
