Bernice and Roy were married May 22, 1946 in Salmon. To this union, three children were born. After farming a few years in North Fork and Salmon, they moved to Canyon County, ID. After Roy retired from the Caldwell Post office, they moved to Donnelly and then to Boise.
Bernice worked as a grocery clerk in her early years in Salmon, Crookham Seed in Caldwell, the clerk’s office at the Canyon County Courthouse, the Caldwell Police Dept., Caldwell Auto Supply, as an eligibility worker for Health and Welfare in Boise and sold Avon for several years in Caldwell.
A major life accomplishment; Bernice graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree from Boise State University. She enjoyed painting and was a member of Purple Sage Creative Arts where she held several offices and received several awards and ribbons showing her paintings throughout the valley. Her love of painting was reflected in her wildlife and still life artwork.
She and Roy belonged to the Good Sam’s Club and enjoyed spending their later years as “Snowbirds” in St. George, UT, Parumph, NV, Quartzite and Yuma, AZ with numerous friends and relatives.
In 2008, Bernice and Roy moved into Hillcrest Assisted Living in Boise.
Bernice is survived by her son; Allan (Margaret) Motichka of Augusta, WV and daughter; Gerry (John) Weeks of Camas, WA, grandchildren; Roxanne (Cam) Marquart, Lt. Jeffrey (Erin) Motichka (USN), John (Clovis) Motichka (USN Ret.), Jennifer Motichka, Shawna Weeks, Marcella (Ryan) Frasier, Janet (Joshua) Orr, 18 great-grandchidren, three sisters-in-law; Ada Ruth Colwell, Blanche Neal and Mitzi Beller and several nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, a sister and both brothers.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 3rd from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday March 4, 2016 all at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd, in Caldwell. Condolences may be posted at www.flahifffuneralchapel.com.
