William G. Allen married Belle Green 28 November 1878 in Hempstead County, Arkansas, USA.
__________
W.G. Allen Dead.

Our city is again called to mourn the loss of a good and usefdl [sic] citizen. Mr. W.G. Allen, who has lived in Hope for the past eighteen years, and in Hempstead County all his life, was taken sick last Friday and though everything that science and loving attention made possible was done to save his life, Monday evening, July 25th, he breathed his last and passed to his eternal reward.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, which was filled to the last seat with the sorrowing friends of the deceased, assembled to pay a last sad tribute to one who had wrought out his life in their midst, an upright man and citizen, a consistent, christian [sic] gentleman, winning the confidence and esteem of all who knew him. His was a genial, sunny nature, full of kindness toward all, and he always had a cheery word for those he met. He joined the Presbyterian church early in life and his pastor, Rev. C.C. Williams, who conducted the funeral, spoke in testimony of his faithfulness in every walk in life to the high principles of his christian [sic] profession.

Mr. Allen belonged to one of the largest and best families of Hempstead county and his death will be mourned throughout its borders. He leaves a wife and five children, who in this great sorrow have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
