Miriam Elaine Ford September 23, 1920 – January 23, 2013

Miriam Elaine Ford passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 23, 2013.

She was the loving wife of Blaine D. Ford, and mother of Kenneth (Pam) Ford, Longmont, CO; Ronald (Carolyn) Ford, Grand Junction, CO; Janet (Mickey) Hunter, Castle Rock, CO; Ellen (Mark) Ostrand, Chandler, AZ; grandmother to Kelsey, Ashley, Brittany, Cody, and Keelan, and she had three great-grandchildren.

Elaine was born September 23, 1920 in Huntington, UT to Ella and Perry Black.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Afton Filko.

She is survived by her husband, Blaine; sisters: LaVerne Brady, of Grand Junction, and Colleen Gower, of Westminster, CO; and brothers: Perry Blair Black, of Grand Junction, and Jerry Black, of Mancos, CO.

Elaine moved to Grand Junction her senior year of high school and attended Mesa College where she met Blaine. They were married on March 28, 1942 and were inseparable for 70 wonderful years.

Elaine had a wonderful passion for life and love for her family. Elaine's most joyous times were family gatherings where she always displayed her genuine love for baking and preparing meals for all the family. Some of her additional interests as a homemaker were sewing, painting, bridge, dancing, and reading. No one could beat her at Scrabble!

Elaine's love, tenderness, elegance, sweet wink and endearing smile will be missed so much, but remembered forever.

A memorial service for Elaine will be held on Saturday, February 9, at 1:00 p.m. at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado.
