MANTI - George Herman Oviatt passed away Feb. 11, 2002 in Mayfield.

Herman was born Jan. 2, 1912 in Elmo to George H. and Eliza Marie Johnson Oviatt. He married Eva Watts on Feb. 26,1938.

The coupleraised their family in the Price area.

He worked in the coal mines in the Price area for many years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many different positions in the church. He was a bishop in the Carbonville LDS Ward.

The couple later moved to Manti, where Herman and Eva were temple workers in the Manti Temple for many years.

Herman is survived by his wife, Eva; six children, Vatia (Wayne) Jones, Manti; Deola (Hap) Kimble, Wesson, Miss.; Retha Llewelyn, Murray; Ted (Bonnie) Oviatt, Castle Rock, Colo.; Annette (Craig) Niebuhr, Murray; Roger (Vickie) Oviatt, Taylorsville; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m., at the Manti LDS Stake Center, 3 South Main Street. Viewing, Thursday evening, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the LDS Stake Center and one hour prior to services on Friday. Burial, Ceveland Cemetery under the direction of Magleby-Furner Mortuary of Mt. Pleasant.
