Robert C. Bertram, 86, passed away at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. Robert was predeceased by his loving wife, Jane (Ward) of 53 years; parents, John and Mary; brother, William; sister, Elizabeth; in-laws, Oscar and Mary Ward; Buddy and best friend, Fritz Lander. He is survived by his sister, Beverly Preston; five children and their spouses, Gary Bertram, Kim and William Wrighter, Dawn and Michael Pesko, Ronald and Kristen Bertram, Kathy and George Leatso Jr.; eight grandchildren, Laura, DeEtta, Scott, William Benjamin, Emily, Joshua, and Bethany; eight great-grandchildren, Heaven, Scotty, William, Dream, Neja, Sky, Harley and Calliope. Robert served in the US Army and retired from GAF with 43 years of service as a senior buyer. Robert enjoyed time spent with his family, hunting, fishing, and mowing. A special thank you to Dr. Welsh, Whitney and Father Mark Giroux for all their compassion and understanding to Bob and his family. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson. Burial with Military honors will follow in Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5 pm on Sunday, February 28 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in Bob's name to Lourdes Hospice, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905.
