Marilyn June Herring passed from this life to be with our Lord March 28, 2014. Marilyn was born Sept. 8, 1930, to Emory and Alta Helt. She was the middle of three children, raised on a farm in Kingfisher, OK during the Depression era. The fingerprints of that experience are evident throughout her life in her hard work ethics and determination. After graduating high school in Kingfisher, her dad gave her a cow to sell to pay for her move to Oklahoma City, where she lived at the YWCA while working at the Draft Board and going to school at Draughn's Business School. Married June 19, 1953, to Jimmy J. Herring, her husband of 61 years. While raising their five children, Marilyn enjoyed sewing, camping and fishing with her family. In later years, she loved supporting her grandkids and great-grandkids in their sports and other life events. She retired from Fleming Foods after 20 years as a buyer. After retirement, Marilyn enjoyed working at Oklahoma Market Research for another 20+ years. She is survived by her husband, Jim Herring; two daughters, Denise Mitchell and husband Terry, of OKC; and Susan Cave-Butterfield and husband Steve, of Edmond, OK; three sons, Jack Herring, of Fayetteville, AR; Steve and wife Jamie Herring, of Moore; and Bill and wife Sharee Herring, of OKC; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Merle and Cerita Helt, of Ponca City; and one sister, Betty and Max Williams, of Crescent. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Emory and Alta Helt, of Kingfisher, OK; and son-in-law, Rick Cave. Many will miss her, as everyone she met became friends for life. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Bill Merritt Funeral Service in Bethany, OK. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at Council Road Baptist Church in Bethany, OK.
