James Michael Adkins, 40, formerly of Kalispell, died in Boise, Idaho, August 20, 2000 while mountain biking in the Boise foothills. He suffered from a massive heart attack.
He was born November 23, 1959 in Kalispell to James Olen and Kay Hinman Adkins. He was the first child born into his family. He was education in Montana as well as Idaho public schools, graduating from the University of Montana in 1994, with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a juris doctorate in 1998 from the University Of Montana School Of Law. He was a deputy attorney general for the State of Idaho at the time of his death.
He loved the outdoors, kayaking, fly-fishing, skiing, mountain biking and passed away doing something he enjoyed. He and his wife went through law school together. They built a wood-strip canoe and were in the process of building a Mackenzie River drift boat for fly-fishing. He was an optimist and had many plans in the works. He loved life and he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Kara Adkins of Boise; one daughter, Aubri Kristine Adkins, and one son, Nathan Garth Adkins, both of Kalispell; his parents, James and Kay Adkins of Kalispell; four sisters, Tamara Kaye Adkins of Salt Lake City, Kimberly Ann Stark and husband, Gene of Kaysville, Utah; Nichole Eileen Yorgason and husband Tyler of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Shannon Dee Adkins of Salt Lake City; two half-sisters, Gail Johnke and Toni Desjardin, both of Livingston; his grandmother, Eloise Hinman of Kalispell; also nieces and nephews, Anthe, Adrienne, and Brynnnlie Yorgason, Regan and Caleb Stark.
