Edna Alexander Clendennen May 21, 1913 ~ Sept. 8, 2010
Edna Lee Alexander Clendennen passed from this life on Sept. 8, 2010 in the home she shared with her youngest son and his family in Fairland. She was born on May 21, 1913 in Tow, Texas to Arthur Pinkney Alexander and Mattie Knox Alexander.

She married Alton Darrell Clendennen on June 7, 1930. Edna was a devoted wife and mother. While raising four sons, she worked alongside her husband to build a successful fishing camp, Camp Tow. Shortly before the birth of their daughter, they purchased property on Lake LBJ which they later developed with their sons. Except for a brief period in Dallas during World War II, they made Llano and Burnet counties their home for all of their lives. After their last son was born, they purchased a ranch, which had always been their dream, on which they raised hay and livestock. She devoted nearly 40 years of her life to caring for one of her sons following a tragic accident. She was also a loving grandmother. Her selfless dedication to home and family paved the way for the successes of her husband and children.

Throughout her life Edna was an active church member of the Buckner Baptist Church and the First Baptist Churches of Tow, Burnet, and Marble Falls. She loved animals, the outdoors, gardening, reading and singing hymns. She is fondly remembered for her baking, especially apricot and pecan pies and biscuits. She was also an excellent seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, her sons, Buddy Darrell Clendennen and Darby Lee Clendennen, grandson, Russell Clendennen, two sisters, and three brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Rose and husband, Dennis, sons, Alton David Clendennen and wife, Myra, Toney Clendennen and wife, Lola, Winston Clendennen and wife Elizabeth and daughter-in-law, Helen Clendennen. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren,15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the many caregivers who saw to her needs in her later years, most recently, Patricia Leon and the caring staff of Texas Home Health Hospice.

Visitation was Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Marble Falls. Graveside service was Saturday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at Tow Cemetery, Tow, Texas with Bro. Max Copeland officiating.
