Friends may call 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 21) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo. The funeral service will follow immediately at the funeral home. Rev. Ellen Donnan, pastor of Junius Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Spring burial will be in Southwick Cemetery in Junius.

Joyce was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Clyde, the daughter of Frederick and Helen Noble Smith. She was a graduate of Clyde-Savannah School District. After graduating she was employed for several years at the Commercial Building in Newark. Leaving employment, she married and raised her family. While raising her family Joyce helped her husband operate the family farm. After raising her family she was employed at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls for 22 years, before retiring. She was a longtime member of Junius Presbyterian Church. Joyce was a member of the Junius Ladies Club for over 50 years and was also a member of the Clyde Grange for 66 years.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years as of Jan. 19, 2016, Paul "Judd" Garrett; daughters, Mary Ann (Andy, Sr.) Lanphear of Waterloo and Vicky Lee Garrett of Lyons; grandchildren, Heather (Tom) Willower of Geneva, Crystal (Kevin) Thomas of Ransomville, Andy (Nicole) Lanphear, Jr. of Newark, and Jason (Jennifer) Lanphear of Waterloo; great-grandchildren, Autumn and River Thomas, Braelyn and Danica Lanphear; brother, Bruce (Cheryl) Smith of Clyde; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Joyce was predeceased by her son, Rodney P. Garrett, one great-grandchild, Hunter Thomas; and sisters, Lorraine Graves and Gloria Ide.
