(FH record) Born in Georgia, the son of Jeremiah and Martha (Adkins) Hendrix. He died of blood poisioning.

On July 3, 1864 at the battle at Marietta, GA, Joseph was wounded and taken as a prisoner of war. He stayed in a Union prison at Camp Douglas near Chicago, IL until his release on May 16, 1865. He married Margie Catherine Kelly on Nov. 8, 1866. Their children were August "Gus", Robert, Artie, Samuel Walker, Bessie Strassner, Della, Maggie Cogburn, Eular Garner,Laura Lelan Pusley, Lou Susan Pennington Fowler Dobson, Edgar and Julia. Maggie died Feb. 12, 1935.
