David C. Ayres, 73, of Concord Road in the Mohawk community, died Monday morning at his home.
He was owner of Ayres Tractor Service for most of his adult life. He was a well-known mechanic and farmer.
Mr. Ayres was of the Baptist tradition of faith.
Survivors include his wife: Wanda Kirk Ayres; two sons and daughters-in-law: Christopher and Merilla Ayres of Afton, and Stanley and Tammy Ayres of Kingsport; one grandson: Cory Ayres of Afton; special stepgranddaughters: Jessie Broyles and Kaitlyn Hurd; one sister and brother-in-law: Mary Margaret and Bob Anderson of Morristown; his stepchildren: Deborah Hill, Sheila Noe, Teresa Wheeler, Tim Strange Jr., Nikki Strange and Jennifer Broyles; one niece; two great-nieces; one great-great niece; special cousins: Joan Mitchell of Cleveland, Ohio, Judy Viccardi of Bybee, and Billy Holt of Morristown; and special friends: Dr. Dharmen Patel and his staff and Dr. Mark Doman and his staff.
He was the son of the late Crawford "Chick" and Verna Holt Ayres.
The family will receive friends at Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday preceding the funeral service at 9 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.
The Rev. Richard Long will officiate.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamblen Memory Gardens.
