Sallie Strickland Johnson, 88, of Benson died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at the Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Benson. She was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Johnston County to the late Robert and Mary Opheia Johnson Strickland. She was preceded in death by brothers, Coleman Strickland, Bunk Strickland, Marvin Strickland, Jack Strickland, Delmer Strickland and Bobby Strickland; and sisters, Demer Grooms and Annie Turnage. Mrs. Johnson was a cafeteria food service worker in the public school system for 16 years and a member of Pauline Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Pauline Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Dr. Robert Cooke will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Hayes and husband Jerry of Four Oaks; sons, Rodney S. Johnson and wife Susan of Raleigh, Jerry R. Johnson and wife Wanda of Benson; six grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren;two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces andnephews.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, Four Oaks, and other times at the home of Debbie Hayes
