Sandra Jean Hensley, age 80, 4956 Old Asheville Highway, Flag Pond passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at her residence. She was a native of Chicago, IL and moved to Unicoi County in 1979. Mrs. Hensley was a daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret Gross Emmrich. She was a seamstress at Industrial Garment until her retirement in 1990. Mrs. Hensley was a member of the Episcopal church. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her husband of fifty-six years, Anderson Hensley; one daughter, Carole Norris of Cottondale, AL; one sister, Linda Chapman and her husband, Bill of Round Lake, IL; five grandchildren: Kenny, Joshua, Matthew, Cassandra and Megan Norris; nine great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M until the hour of funeral service on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Craig Shelton will officiate at the 7:00 P.M service. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Pallbearers will be Joshua Norris, Matthew Norris, Gerald McIntosh, Dorsey Bailey, Willard Hensley and Brown Hensley. Committal will be held at 12 P.M. on Wednesday in the Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home by 11:30 A.M. on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
