James M. “Pork” Boger, 77, of 228 Waterford Way, Lebanon went to his heavenly tee time on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in his residence after a courageous six year battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was the husband of Carolyn A. Schneider Boger with whom he would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this October.

Born in Lebanon on April 17, 1938, he was the son of the late Harry “Red” and Jesse Brown Boger. He retired after 32 years of service as the safety director for Metropolitan Edison. After his retirement, he worked at the Lebanon Country Club Pro Shop for over 20 years. He also served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

“Pork” was a 1957 graduate of Lebanon High School and attended the University of Richmond on a football scholarship before being drafted by the Detroit Tigers where he played in the minor leagues for the organization. He was selected as a quarterback to play in the first Big 33 game vs Ohio, played on the Central Penn and Lebanon County American Legion championship baseball teams, was the first inductee of the Lebanon High School Sports Hall of Fame, and also was inducted into the Central PA Chapter of the Sports Hall of Fame.

He loved people and respected others that were less fortunate, was constantly active, and always greeted you with a smile.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons Christopher S. husband of Kori L. Boger of Womelsdorf, Marc W. husband of Kimberly Boger of Myerstown, a daughter Rebecca R. wife of Roger D. Haines, Jr. of Charleston, S.C., seven grandchildren, a brother Harry Boger of Lebanon, and a sister Nancy Horn of Palmyra. He was preceded in death by a brother Sam Boger, and four sisters Fern Barry, Sally Centini, and Rebecca and Doris Jean Boger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at St. Paul The Apostle Church, 125 S. Spruce Street, Annville, PA 17003.

Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lebanon.

A viewing will be held on Sunday from 3-6 PM at the Kreamer Funeral Home and Crematory, 618 E. Main Street, Annville and also from 10-11 AM prior to the service Monday at the Church. A Christian Prayer Service will be held on Sunday evening at 5:45 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul The Apostle Church in his memory.
