Elmer Clarence Wood, 90, of Rockford, IL passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016. Born May 15, 1925 in Rockford, the son of Eskil and Selma (Stromberg) Wood. Attended East High School until the 11th grade, leaving to aide WWII efforts. Married Eva Kirkpatrick September 17, 1966. Former member of American Guild of Organists. Elmer enjoyed music, playing the organ, politics and religion. He loved to help anyone in need. Most of all, he enjoying spending time with his family.
Survivors include children, Donovan (Gayle) Wood of Machesney Park, IL, Jeannie Hillman of Machesney Park, IL, Robert Wood of Loves Park, IL, Ronald Wood of Loves Park, IL Daniel Kirkpatrick of Milton, FL; grandchildren, Joshua Wood, Danielle Wood, Eric Hillman, Randy Kirkpatrick, Curtis Kirkpatrick, Sandy Robert, Shellie Smith, Sheilia Sixkiller, Heather Gough; several great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Veronica Kirkpatrick.
Predeceased by wife, Eva; mother of his children, Dolores Koopman; sons, George Kirkpatrick, Tom Kirkpatrick; and 4 brothers.
Memorial service was held Monday, February 29, 2016 in Bethany Presbyterian Church, 5403 N. 2nd Street, Loves Park, IL.
