US Congressman. A graduate of Niagara University, he worked as an auctioneer, appraiser, and insurance agent. He served in the New York Assembly from 1919 to 1924 and the State Senate from 1924 to 1938. In 1938 Burchill was a member of the New York World's Fair Commission. He was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1942 and served one term, 1943 to 1945. He was not a candidate for reelection in 1944 and returned to his former business interests.
