Blanche Porter Hunter passed away on Thursday morning, February 25, 2016 in Bonham. Blanche was born on October 22, 1918 in Ector, Texas. She was the daughter of W. D. Porter and Stella Bryant Porter. She was a graduate of Bonham High School. Blanche married 1st Lieutenant Charles M. Hunter and they lived in Texas, Arizona, and Missouri during his P51A Mustang flight training. Charles preceded her in death while on a combat mission over Germany on August 16, 1944. Blanche later worked for the Baker Hotel in downtown Dallas for many years before going to work at the Dobbs House at Love Field Airport prior to retirement.

Blanche enjoyed working with children on reading programs. She also had a passion for cooking, knitting, and crocheting. Blanche was very grateful for the friendship and support of her church sisters and the congregation of Northside Church where she was a long-time member. She especially enjoyed the numerous activities at her church.

Graveside services for Blanche Porter Hunter, age 97, of Bonham will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Willow Wild Cemetery under the direction of Wise Funeral Home. Eliseo Hinojos and Stephen Porter will officiate.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Forrest Porter, Edwin Porter, and Weldon Porter and sister, Helen Sims.

Blanche is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hunter will lie in state at Wise Funeral Home on Friday and Saturday until 10:30 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Northside Church of Christ in Bonham, Texas.
