Dustin Harlan Smith, 30, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly due to complications from diabetes, on February 19, 2016. He was born on October 29, 1985 in Havre de Grace, Maryland, a son of Richard and Teri Gadwaw Smith. Dustin was a graduate of the Porter – Chester Institute of Massachusetts. On August 18, 2007 he married Karin Trainor in the Town of Lee. Dustin was presently employed by Uvanni Motors of Rome, and formerly employed by M&M Collison of Rome. He loved building cars and working in the automotive industry. Dustin was an Admin for a automotive tech site, where thousands of people would seek automotive advice from him.

Dustin loved his family deeply. He will be forever missed by his wife Karin and his spirit lives on in his three beautiful daughters, Amerie, Elodie and Maisy. Dustin is survived by his very close and loving family, parents Pastor Richard and Teri Smith, Rome; his brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Louise Smith, PA; his sister and brother-in-law, Lindsey and Brian Mahan, Liverpool; a grandmother Carol Gadwaw, Lee; and his very special nieces and nephews, Brooklyn and Lincoln Smith, Rachel, Joshua, Naomi and Caleb Mahan. He will also be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles, and cousins; special friends, David and Jessica Boardman and their children Carly and Katie who Dustin referred to as his little sisters. Dustin was predeceased by grandparents, Harlan Gadwaw, Edward and Betty Jane Smith; step grandmothers Marjorie Smith and Ruth Smith; and a nephew Jacob Mahan.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday February 23, 2016, at the Rome Alliance Church 920 Turin Street, Rome at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Bryce Baldwin officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
