Charlie James Fields, Sr

SPRING HOPE - Charlie James Fields, Sr., age 80, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Born in Snow Hill, NC, Charlie was the only son of the late Charlie Vernon and Reather Suggs Fields. He was a member of the Pilot Lion’s Club and Pilot Volunteer Fire Department. Charlie retired as a supervisor from Burlington Industries due to health reasons in 1979. He was a tobacco farmer who loved his tractors. He attended Rocky Cross Baptist Church in Middlesex, NC.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Margie See and Claudia Proctor. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathleen Strickland Fields; their three children, Charlene F. Browning (Jeff) of Middlesex, Kathy Denise Parrish (Doug) of Middlesex, and Charlie James Fields, Jr. (Melissa) of Tampa, FL; six grandchildren; sister, Reather Brothers of Virginia Beach, VA.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice and to Robert Sales for their care of Charlie during his lengthy illness. The family would also like to express their thanks to all of their family and friends who have faithfully stood by them during Charlie’s illness.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 1 – 2:45p.m. in the fellowship hall of Rocky Cross Baptist Church followed by a service celebrating Charlie’s life at 3 p.m. Burial will be at the Church cemetery immediately following the service. Flowers are welcomed or contributions in his memory may be made to Rocky Cross Baptist Church Building Fund, 13452 Burgess Rd, Middlesex, NC 27557.
