Elizabeth Odell was born in March 1790 in Old Pendleton District, Pickens, South Carolina to John Prather and Mary Odell. The exact date of her marriage to John N. Bell is not yet known, but would have likely been about 1810 and in South Carolina, based on her age and the birth of her first child.

She and John moved to what began as Tuscaloosa Land District, then St. Clair County, AL, and is now Cherokee County about 1817. They moved to Cedartown, Polk, GA about 1850. They were farmers and were slave owners, according to the census records.
It is believed that she and John had a total of 8 children:
E. A. (daughter) b. c. 1812 SC possibly married Mr. Skaggs
George W., b. c. 1814 SC, m. Eliza Frost
James H., b. 1 Sep 1817 AL, m. Annie Ennis
Nancy, b. 1821 AL, m. Jedediah Frost
Eli, b. 1824 AL, m. Jane Carson
Sarah, b. 1826 AL, m. James Williams
Martha Jane, b. 1827, AL, m. Samuel Wood
Mary Ann, b. 1836, GA, m. Alexander F. Mobley

After her husband died in 1862, Elizabeth moved back to Forney, AL likely to live with her grown children. She died at the age of 77 on 13 May 1867 and is buried in the Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.

Rest in Peace, Elizabeth.
