Celebration of life for Janice Marlene Howell, age 80 of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 in the Verden First Baptist Church. Rev. Ed Whitley will officiate.

Also, friends and family who wish to share a memory of Mrs. Howell will be given the opportunity to speak.

Janice Marlene was born the daughter of Dale Johnnie Dickenson and Dorothy Mae Brown Dickenson on September 24, 1935 in Verden, Oklahoma. She died on February 24, 2016 in Oklahoma City.

Janice graduated from Verden High School in 1953 as valedictorian. She attended OCW and received her bachelors degree in Home Economics in 1956. While still in school, she married Ray Howell on August 20, 1955.

She taught school at Lexington, OK for one year, then taught at Dibble, OK until 1960.

They moved to Verden and later lived in Altus, Enid, Oklahoma City, and Amarillo following her husbands work. They moved back to Oklahoma City in 1973.

In 1982, she began working for her husband’s consulting engineering firm, Howell & Summers Engineering Inc, taking care of office duties until 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Dorothy Dickenson.

Survivors include her husband Ray Howell of the home; son Craig Howell of Oklahoma City; sister Brenda Dickenson Martin and husband Johnny of Chickasha; nephew Christopher Martin of Lawton; nephew Michael Martin of Portland, Oregon; numerous extended family and friends.

Interment will be in the Verden Cemetery at 1:30 pm under the direction of the McRay Funeral Home of Chickasha.
