Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Reverend Dennis Meyer and Reverend Edward Gabel will officiate. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Flanagan. Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, is in charge of servces.
Mrs. Franzen was born September 20, 1917, at Akron, Ohio, a daughter of Charles F. and Jane (Schurmann) McConnell. She married Peter L. Franzen June 22, 1941 at Geneseo. He survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jayne Lou Bressner of Peoria and Betty Jean Brown of DeKalb; two sons, Warren D. of Pontiac and DeWayne P. of Lancaster, California; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A son, Dennis, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Franzen graduated from Genesco High School and attended Cornell University of Iowa. She served as editor of the Flanagan Home Times from January 13,1972, until August 13, 1984. Her "Grannie Frannie Views" column was a popular feature of the paper.
She was a member St. John's Lutheran Church of Flanagan. The family suggest memorials be made to St. James Hospice, Livingston County Public Health Department, Good Samaritan Home or the American Cancer Society.
