Ollie M. Taylor, 87, went home to be with the Lord on February 16, 2016 at The Orchards of Ridgewood. Born on October 7, 1928, in Memphis, TN, she was the oldest of five children. She moved to Akron, OH, June 1944 where she graduated from Garfield High School. She shared 54 years of marriage with Emmett Taylor. Ollie accepted Christ at an early age, and was a faithful member of the Greater Bethel Baptist Church for 47 years. She served on the Trustee Board and numerous committees. She has been a member of “The House of the Lord” Church since 2000. After 20 years she retired from the Department of Human Services as a case manager. Ollie’s Masonic affiliations include Past Worthy Matron of Phoenix Chapter #96 order of the Eastern Star Past Grand Deputy for District one, State of Ohio, Past Most Ancient Matron of EL Zenubbael Court #5. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Taylor and Sister Vera Armstrong.
She leaves to mourn her loss son, Emmett Jr. (Sandra) Las Vegas, NV, Jimmy (Trinka) Denton, TX, Richard (Nina) Las Vegas, NV, Johnny (Gwen) Las Vegas, N.V,; daughters, LaBarbara (Richard) Dean, Cedar Hill, TX, Michele, Akron, OH,; son, Michael (Sonia) Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Edna Riviere of Dayton, OH; brother, Walter Reamey, Jr., Los Angeles, CA; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Celebration of life was held on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at The House of The Lord, 1650 Diagonal Rd. Akron, OH, 44320, Pastor Dennis K. Butts eulogizing. Interment Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery. Friends visited at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Procession formed and condolences were sent to 275 North Portage Path, Akron, OH 44303.
