BALLANTYNE —On Tuesday, October 16, 1945 (result of-an accident at Waimatuku), 43310 Dvr Leslie William, dearly beloved eldest son of William and the late Anne Ballantyne, of Orepuki. The Funeral will leave the Riverton Hospital on Friday, October 19, at 1.30 p.m. for the Orepuki Cemetery, arriving there at approximately 2.15 p.m.—A. F. Webb, Funeral Director.

A lorry driven by Leslie William Ballantyne was struck at the Waimatuku Ievel crossing this morning by an engine travelling from Oporo to Thornbury. Ballantyne was killed and the lorry was wrecked, and portions or the vehicle were carried along the line for several chains. Ballantyne, who was aged 40 and single, returned recently after four years service overseas.
