He was born September 25, 1964, in Saltville, Va., to the late Donald and Frances Coleman. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother, David Coleman.
Joe was a 1982 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, he was a brick mason and had previously worked in the mining industry. Joe was an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed riding horses. He was of the Methodist faith and attended Byars-Cobbs Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Coleman of Glade Spring, Va.; one daughter, Frankie Coleman of the home; three sisters, Sandra Richardson and husband Charles of Piney Flats, Tenn., Donna Broyles and husband Danny of Glade Spring, Va., and Bonnie Owens and husband Bo of Meadowview, Va.; two brothers, Jerry Coleman and partner Mike of Roanoke, Va., and Donnie Coleman of Meadowview, Va.; several nieces, nephews, and many friends. He is also survived by a favorite companion, his Yorkshire Terrier named Tinker Bell.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016, at Byars-Cobbs Memorial United Methodist Church, 106 Kirkwood St., Glade Spring, Va., with Pastor Paul Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Frost Funeral Home, Abingdon, Va.
Pallbearers will be Jim Alderson, David “Spanky” Hayton, Mike Harmon, Josh Harmon, Brian Taylor, Justin Evans, Little Pride Arrington and Colby Frost. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Byrd, Kevin Taylor, Steve Rector, Gary Terry, Jerry Singleton, Jim Gates and his many close friends.
