Son of Patrick and Bridget (O'Neill) Finney of New Orleans, Rev. Father Pat Finney, C.M., was ordained a Catholic priest of the Congregation of the Mission of St. Vincent de Paul in 1899. He taught at St. Louis Preparatory Seminary in Missouri, and at St. Vincent's College (now Loyola Marymount University) in Los Angeles, California. From 1905-1917, he taught in Dallas, Texas, and after a serious illness, he returned to Missouri to teach Moral Theology at St. Mary's of the Barrens in Perryville. His condition worsened, and he returned to Texas for recuperation, dying at Providence Hospital in Waco at age 65. Three of his brothers were also priests of the Congregation of the Mission, Fathers Peter, Thomas, and Joseph Finney, C.M., and a sister also entered religious life as a Daughter of Charity, Sister Margaret Finney, D.C.
