Born in Reinheim, Saarland, to Johannes and Apollonia (Kempf) Feuerstein. Emigrated with his parents and other members of the Feuerstein family to Dearborn County, Indiana in 1842.
Served in the Union Army, CO H 83 Indiana Infantry, in the War Between the States from 8/1862 to 6/1865.
Moved to Ionia County, MI, in 1865. Married Katherine Henninger in New Alsace, IN, in 1868, and returned to Ionia County, MI, where they lived the remainder of their lives. They had eight children.
