Brenda Faye Wilson Cross, 70 of Mooresville, NC passed away peacefully at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC on March 9th, 2015 at 10:30 am.

She was born on April 29th, 1944 to the late Arthur and Thelma Wilson of Mooresville, NC. Brothers Darrell and Johnny Wilson, and grandson, Aaron Willis, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Cross, children, Todd Willis and wife, Anna Willis and Tonya Cross Hidalgo and husband Olman Hidalgo and four grandchildren: Abigail Willis, Anna-Grace Willis, Joshua Hidalgo and Sydney Hidalgo and one great grandchild, Mason Michael Becker.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, faithful wife and loyal friend to many. Some of her greatest passions were her children and grandchildren. She loved picking with everyone and enjoyed making people try to think fast enough to keep up with her jokes.

The roots of her legacy run deep into the lives of her family. She was an example of courage and perseverance throughout most of her adult life.

She taught her children and grandchildren about Jesus and how to live a life of integrity and love. Her daughter, Tonya remembers, “Every time we would say goodbye or good night, she would say, ‘See you here, there or in the air.’ See you here, in the morning or next time I see you. See you there, if one of us goes to heaven first, or see you in the air, if we are apart when Jesus comes back to take His bride home to heaven. Now we know, we will see you there, mama.”

She supported the ministry of her husband, Jack Cross with prayer and love from their home, as the majority of the time she was too sick to attend events with him.

She endured many surgeries and health problems since the mid 1970s. In 1997, she was diagnosed with COPD, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and ultimately won her battle with it in heaven.

Her motto throughout life was “I’m gonna live ‘til I die.” She definitely did just that.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Rockwell Baptist Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Dewayne Barber officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park, Mooresville. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville.
